BIG DECK ENERGY is a Keynote-specific workshop series covering beginner to advanced level deck design. It spans across 6 cities: Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Oakland—and features three cumulative workshops.

[ ABOUT THE SERIES ]
Each workshop featured across the series is split into two parts. Part one serves as the interactive learning portion, while part two is reserved for work time. Both parts are approximately one-hour and 50 minutes in length, with a 20-minute break in between.
KEYNOTE BASICS
In this session we’ll be working to best acquaint ourselves with Keynote’s interface, and explore its design and presentation capabilities. This includes: learning / manipulating hot keys, properly importing media, installing fonts, formatting type, and playing with color, shapes, and builds.

CRAFTING A TEMPLATE
In this session we’ll be examining a number of key aspects involved in crafting a robust, and comprehensive template. This includes: proper file naming/organization, layout treatments, building familiarity with master slides, visual analysis, distinguishing voice and tone, creating custom assets, and handing-off/packaging final files.

DESIGNING A DECK
In this session we’ll be exercising our creative muscles, working to arrive at visually striking deck design within a collaborative setting. This includes: pulling inspiration, initial preparation, live-sharing, etiquette, tips and techniques on content sourcing, troubleshooting, and final export.

Deck Design is a form of visual storytelling that often involves taking a set of complex ideas, information or data, and showcasing them in a way that is clear, concise, effective, and engaging.

Not at all. This workshop series welcomes a wide range of learners at every skill level.

Tickets are set at $45 not including taxes or fees. For anyone looking to attend the series but unable to cover the costs, there are a handful of volunteer opportunities available that grant free entry per workshop.

This workshop series is set in Keynote. As such, it’s intended audience are mac users with an emphasis on artists, design enthusiasts, and creative / non creative professionals.

Groups are expected to range anywhere between 10-20 participants per session.

Designing, producing, and facilitating a workshop series single-handedly is no small feat. If you have it within your capacity to give, know that every contribution you make, will go towards enriching the experience of participants, and funding many of the operational costs that would otherwise come OOP.
[ ABOUT THE FACILITATOR ]
Emmanuel Dunagan is a trained visual artist and designer who has spent half a decade serving as a presentation design specialist. Over the course of their tenure, they’ve offered support on numerous business pitches, client meetings, agency presentations, and DE&I initiatives.
With the help of this series, they’re eager to bring all the knowledge they’ve collected over the years, to a diverse and contemporary audience.
